If you’re just a casual or recreational player, buying a pair of shoes specifically for volleyball may not be necessary. Depending on how often you play and how competitive you are, you may eventually decide to invest in a solid pair.
If you’re playing for a school team or a club team, you should have shoes that are dedicated to the volleyball court. I don’t mean that the shoes have to be categorized as “volleyball shoes” at the store, but that you only wear those shoes in the gym. You will often see players wearing slides before or after games because they know not to wear their court shoes outside.
